You Fly On The Wings Of Knowledge.

I just came back from India on a mission trip during which God did many wonderful things. To read some of the testimonies, click here.

Whenever I travel by air, I normally like to sit by the window to behold the marvels of God’s wonderful creations up in the sky.

This time as the aircraft glided smoothly at an altitude of between 37,000 to 40,000 feet about sea level, I could not help but be impressed at this technological wonder. As I pondered this, the Spirit of God started to minister to me and revealed to me that knowledge is what makes you fly. If you want to fly, ride on the wings of knowledge.

What makes a huge object as big as the aeroplane to fly for hours in the sky is applied knowledge.

True knowledge is a certainty. You can rely on it – it doesn’t fail. The word of God is truth and just like technology relies on the knowledge of physics and other related sciences to make the huge aeroplane to fly, that is how a child of God should rely on the word of God and apply it to get astonishing results.

When God said in His word, “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge ...” (Hosea 4:6) He was hitting the nail right on the head. The word “destroyed” in the above scripture means to be dumb or silenced, to fail, perish or be destroyed.

It means therefore that the reason God’s people are rendered helpless to confront their problems, the reason they are subdued (instead of subduing), the reason they fail or are unproductive, is lack of knowledge.

The knowledge being referred to here is applied knowledge. A lot of believers these days are full of the knowledge of the word of God but they are scanty when it comes to the DOING and so they get little or no results. If you claim you know but for whatever reason you are not applying that knowledge, then you are classified as ignorant because you will get the same result as those who are totally ignorant – which is nothing!

You won’t get results or cause situations to change simply because you quote scriptures – you must be a doer of the same.

But to get the knowledge that will bring you a positive turn-around, the following are vital:

First acquire relevant knowledge from the word of God.

Yes, gather truth together. Find out the truth that is relevant or applicable to your situation. Quite often, it is not only one but several truth that you need to bring about a change in your situation. Dig into the word of God to get them.

For instance, if need a change in your finances, it is not enough to know Phil.4:19 which says “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”; you also need to know the law of sowing and reaping which says “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again”

And then you also need to know something about not being lazy but diligent in what you do as well as living holy and walking in the love of God.

Secondly, assemble knowledge together

Now that you have gathered together the different stands of knowledge that are vital to the change that you need, assemble them together. Recognize and appreciate the link between them such that you see that whole body of truth as the knowledge that you need for the change that you desire.

The aeroplane does not fly based on one strand of knowledge alone – instead, the knowledge of several elements are packaged together and put to work. Again, the example given above about changing your financial situation will apply here. Don’t take just one bit of knowledge and leave the others – realise that they work together; they constitute a package of knowledge.

Thirdly and finally, apply the knowledge.

It is applied knowledge that guarantees you result – not just acquired knowledge. Again, take an aeroplane for instance. It is the application of knowledge that makes it to fly. There is a special part of the aeroplane called the cockpit where the pilot and his team stay throughout the flight operating different controls to ensure a smooth flight. Even though knowledge has been acquired and assembled together and packaged to form an aeroplane, it is the operation and application of that body of knowledge that causes the aeroplane to fly.

So it is for any believer who wants to fly high in their walk with God. You must learn to apply the knowledge you have acquired throughout your flight.

God’s word tells us that we should not be hearers of His word only but doers also. If we mere hearers but not doers, we are nothing more than window shopping. And the big difference between a real shopper and a window shopper is that the window shopper always goes home with nothing while the real shopper goes home with purchased items. The reason a lot if believers claim they are believing God’s word and are getting nothing is because they are window shopping.
